KBL Round 41 (Regular Season): Seoul Knights edge Suwon KT by one point

The Regular Season in KBL is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 7 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Fourth-ranked Sonicboom (27-19) made lots of trouble for first ranked Knights (38-9) in Busan on Wednesday. The visitors from Seoul managed to secure only one-point victory 78-77. However their fans expected easier game. The best player for the winners was American center Jameel Warney (203-1994, college: Stony Brook) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The former international forward Youngjun An (195-1995) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Knights' coach Hee-Chul Chun used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international guard Hoon Heo (181-1995) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 assists for the hosts. Seoul Knights maintains first place with 38-9 record. Suwon KT at the other side keeps the fourth position with 19 games lost. Seoul Knights are looking forward to face Mobis Phoebus (#3) in Ulsan in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Suwon KT will play on the road against the league's second-placed LG Sakers in Changwon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

However their fans expected much easier game. American forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: Louisiana, agency: Pensack Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points. Woosuk Lee contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Mobis Phoebus' coach Dong-hyun Cho allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Haitian center Cady Lalanne (208-1992, college: UMass) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for KCC Egis. Mobis Phoebus moved-up to third place. KCC Egis at the other side keep the eighth position with 30 games lost. Mobis Phoebus will play against league's leader Seoul Knights on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. KCC Egis will play against Anyang (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Skygunners managed to get a fifteenth victory, breaking the series of five consecutive losses on Thursday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked KoGas in Daegu 90-85. Alan Williams stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Nakhyeon Kim responded with 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sono SG maintains tenth place with 15-31 record. Loser KoGas keep the fifth position with 23 games lost. Sono SG will meet at home higher ranked Seoul Thunders (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KoGas will play against Wonju DB (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 41 Anyang defeated KoGas in a road game 73-68. LG Sakers beat Wonju DB at home 81-68.

KoGas - Anyang 68-73

There was a minor upset in Inchon where 5th ranked KoGas (24-23) were defeated by seventh ranked Anyang (19-27) 73-68 on Monday. Anyang outrebounded KoGas 38-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. American power forward Johnny OBryant III (207-1993, college: LSU, agency: Slash Sports) stepped up and scored 26 points for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Deonte Burton (193-1994, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Filipino guard Samjosef Belangel (177-1999) responded with 16 points and 5 steals and guard Seong-Woo Jeong (178-1993) scored 13 points and 6 assists. Four KoGas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Anyang maintains seventh place with 19-27 record. Loser KoGas keep the fifth position with 23 games lost. Anyang will meet at home KCC Egis (#8) in the next round. KoGas will play against Wonju DB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Sono SG dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to KoGas' 30. They outrebounded KoGas 39-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Sono SG looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Alan Williams (203-1993, college: UCSB) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and forward Jeong-Hyeon Lee (187-1999) chipped in 23 points and 4 assists. The former international guard Nakhyeon Kim (180-1995) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists and Canadian Andrew Nicholson (206-1989, college: St.Bonaventure) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sono SG maintains tenth place with 15-31 record. LG Sakers - Wonju DB 81-68

No shocking result in a game in Changwon where second ranked Sakers (29-17) defeated 6th ranked Wonju DB (20-27) 81-68 on Thursday. LG Sakers forced 19 Wonju DB turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Wonju DB's players. Filipino forward Carl Tamayo (200-2001) stepped up and scored 32 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Egyptian center Assem Marei (206-1992, college: MSU) chipped in 15 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and 5 steals. American guard Ethan Alvano (185-1996, college: CSUSM) responded with 13 points and Nigerian-American center Chinanu Onuaku (207-1996, college: Louisville) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. LG Sakers maintains second place with 29-17 record having ten points less than leader Seoul Knights. Defending champion Wonju DB keeps the sixth position with 27 games lost. LG Sakers will meet at home Suwon KT (#4) in the next round. Wonju DB will play against KoGas in Inchon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
